title: Fizz vs. Public Mobile vs. Koodo: Comparing the Mobile Referral Bonuses on This Site
description: Three mobile carriers, three very different referral structures — one pays fast and small, one pays slow and large, one sits in between. Here's how I'd actually decide between them.

I run referral pages for three mobile carriers, and people occasionally ask why the bonus amounts are so different — Up to $40 credit on one, $10 account credit on another, $25 bill credit on the third. It’s not that one company is just more generous. The three referral programs are structured completely differently — different payout speed, different conditions, different amount of patience required — and that matters more than the headline number when you’re deciding which code to actually use.

## The three, side by side

**[Fizz](/fizz/)** has the biggest number: up to $40 credit, code [YMR55](https://fizz.ca/en?ref=YMR55). It’s also the one with the longest wait — the credit lands only after your first Mobile or Internet service has been active for two full consecutive billing cycles, which works out to roughly 60 days. Fizz is the only one of the three that also covers home internet, and its plans have no fixed-term contract, so if you’re not happy at day 45 you haven’t locked yourself into anything to still collect the bonus at day 60.

**[Public Mobile](/publicmobile/)** is the opposite end of the spectrum: $10 account credit, code [W04739](https://publicmobile.ca/en/on/plans?referral=W04739). It’s a smaller amount, but it lands fast — within 72 hours of activation — and it’s prepaid only, so there’s no credit check and no contract to think about either way. The one thing people trip up on: the code has to be entered *during* activation. There’s no adding it after the fact if you forget.

**[Koodo](/koodo/)** sits in the middle on amount but is the slowest to pay out in full: $25 bill credit, code [OO6AZ31](https://referafriend.koodomobile.com/friend?bp_p=%2Fiaf%2Fkoodomobilereferafriend%2Ffriend_voucher%3Freferral_code%3DOO6AZ31%26source_network%3Demail%26tsl%3D1&campaign_slug=koodomobilereferafriend&locale=en), paid as $5 a month for five months rather than a lump sum. It covers both prepaid and postpaid plans, which the other two don’t both do, so it’s the one I’d point someone to if they specifically want a postpaid plan with device financing down the line. The referral link needs to be used *before* activating — same rule as Fizz and Public Mobile, the code can’t retroactively apply to an existing account.

## The pattern that actually matters

Notice none of these are “sign up and the money shows up tomorrow, no strings.” Every referral bonus on this site — not just these three — has some version of a waiting period or an activity requirement, because the carrier is protecting itself against people gaming the program with throwaway accounts. The real differences are:

- **How long you wait.** Public Mobile (72 hours) vs. Koodo (spread over 5 months) vs. Fizz (~60 days, one lump sum) are genuinely different commitments in terms of how long you need to keep the line active before you’ve actually banked the reward.

- **Whether the code has to go in before or during signup.** All three require this — none of them let you retroactively apply a referral code to an account you already opened. If you’re switching carriers, grab the link *before* you start the signup flow, not after.

- **What you actually need.** If you only want a phone line and don’t care about internet, Public Mobile or Koodo cover it. If you want mobile and home internet under one referral relationship, Fizz is the only one of the three that does both.

## Which one I’d actually pick

If someone asked me cold, with no other context: Public Mobile, because the bonus lands almost immediately and it’s the lowest-commitment of the three — no fixed term, prepaid, and you know within days whether the credit worked. I’d switch to Fizz if internet is part of the decision too, since bundling both under one referral is worth more than $10 arriving faster. Koodo is the one I’d pick specifically for postpaid with device financing — if that’s not a factor for you, the other two get you paid faster for less waiting.

None of these bonuses are guaranteed the moment you sign up — read the fine print on each carrier’s own referral page before you commit, since eligibility rules do get updated. Full terms and current bonus amounts for all three (and everything else I track) are on the [SimpleReferral home page](/).

*Referral bonus amounts and payout conditions can change on any of these programs — I keep the numbers on each guide page current, but always confirm directly with the carrier before you activate.*
